requirements, so too does economic development.
IEDC's Certified Economic Developers (CEcDs) are recognized around the
world as having achieved a level of excellence in their understanding of the
tools and programs of economic development.
The Certified Economic Developer exam tests a practitioner's broad-based
knowledge in economic development.
Rather than testing an individual on their specialty, the test in intended to
unite the field of economic development and establish a base line of what
is considered the core body of knowledge for economic developers.
The cost for taking the exam is in the neighborhood of $500 for IEDC
members and $700 for non-members, and that's not counting the cost of
travel and time away from the job and family. If you fail the exam, you can
retake it but that costs from $150 to $200, depending upon membership.
And, again, that's not counting travel expenses and the time away from
family and job.
It's just better to pass the test the first time and that's what this course is all
about - preparing you for the optimal opportunity to pass the test on the first
take. And for those who don't wish to take the CEcD exam, it provides an
excellent basis for understanding the basics of economic development.

International Economic Development Council (IEDC) to earn the
CEcD credential.
Module 11 consists of Essay Questions where you will upload your
essay answers to the author for evaluation and critique, and in
Module 12 you will actually schedule a telephone interview with
CEcD experts, just as is done with the actual CEcD exam once the
other two parts have been successfully completed.
